A ledger, not a library.
In 1983 Apple gathered its developers at the Dunfey Hotel in San Mateo — the conference that became WWDC. This site keeps the modern record: every session Apple still publishes, indexed by category, duration, the code shown on screen, and how each session links to the others.
The house
It opened as a Royal Coach Inn, built like a Tudor castle, and spent its years inside the Dunfey family's chain of motor inns before becoming the Regency Plaza in 1997. The site is a Marriott today.
Its one claim on this page: in August 1983 it hosted the Apple Independent Software Developers Conference — the gathering that grew into WWDC. The trade report at the time ran under the headline “Report from the Castle.” We kept the name, and the date.
Everything links to the source. Videos, transcripts, sample code and documentation live at developer.apple.com; this site stores metadata and aggregates only, for research and education, non-commercially.
Counted honestly. Apple revises its catalog over time — sessions are removed, labs are pruned, history shifts. Counts here come from snapshot 4355 of Apple's public feed (updated 2026-06-11), and years before 2019 reflect what remains published, not the full conference that took place.
